The serenity of yesteryear without today’s rush and stress is a constant in the quality of life in Cantiano. Here, taking things easy and taking time to enjoy the little things life has to offer is a value to be admired which translates into a peace of mind taught by history and tradition.
This event is held every year on the second Saturday and Sunday of May.
Staged in the heart of the historical centre of Cantiano, “La Piazza del Gusto” promotes the wines and foods of Umbria and Marche. The undisputed star of the event is Pane di Chiaserna, known well beyond the confines of the province for its quality and typical, traditional production.
The traditional Chiaserna Bread is served with a wide selection of products from Umbria and Marche (oil, cured meats, cheeses, legumes, wines, honey, etc.) in testimony to a territory rich in values, warm hospitality and the desire for sustainable growth, in respect for the environment and its resources.
In the course of the day, the visitor can taste “polenta alla carbonara” and other local specialities. A variety of Tourist Menus are proposed which feature the traditional Chiaserna Bread and more! The visitor can take a relaxing pause in one of the charming areas reserved for tasting high quality Marche wines.
All of this is accompanied by soft, enjoyable background music throughout the entire event. The visitors can also visit the museo geo-territoriale and the archeologico as well as the Cultural Centre which hosts a permanent exhibit of Oscar Piattella’s works; there are also guided tours of Cantiano organised by the Archeoclub, as well as visits to the wanderfull church in historic town centre.
The visitor may also enjoy participating in the fun of the musical entertainment, or a walk to discover the Colmatrano and S. Ubaldo Fortresses, or learn about the numerous other surprises and the tourist attractions that Cantiano and the surrounding areas have to offer. Not be missed is the display area reserved to quality handcrafts. And the Centre for the Recovery and Production of Autochthonous Fish Fauna and the Trota del Duca, located a short distance from the event, will be open to all, impianto di troticultura.
